Biotechnology: Academic Information

The educational experiences will largely focus on applying scientific knowledge to solve complex problems. Students will identify problems, design and execute experiments, analyze results, and draw conclusions. Students will spend significant time in the lab, learning by doing.

Coursework in the biotechnology program includes organic chemistry, molecular and cellular biology, physics, statistics, intro to biosciences, scientific and business communications, immunology, bioinformatics, quantitative analysis, and more. Students can expect extensive coursework in general science, bioscience core classes, molecular bioscience electives, and open electives.

For students who wish to tailor their degree to their career goals and round out their educational experience, they have the option of adding a minor.

An internship and a capstone project are required and are very valuable features of this degree that contribute to students being workforce ready at graduation.
