Engineering Management: Academic Information

The M.S. in Engineering Management program is a specific blend of business, management, and leadership courses, with specific emphasis placed on employment skills that apply across a range of careers and professional situations. This includes written and oral communication, technology management, leadership and analysis, and design skills.

EMGT graduates are more effective managers in technology-based organizations and are better able to promote entrepreneurial activities for new businesses.

The EMGT program integrates management with technology by focusing on three dimensions:

  1. Technical: an understanding of and proficiency in engineering and science.
  2. Human: the ability to build a collaborative effort within a group.
  3. Conceptual: the ability to apply analytical thought to the management process and to the enterprise as a total system.

Course instructors are seasoned professionals with significant real-world experience in engineering/technology management, or an associated discipline such as engineering law, quality control, and product marketing.
