Biotechnology: Resources
KU’s biotechnology-related academic programs prepare students for careers or further academic study following graduation, including graduate or medical degrees.
Biotechnology uses research and technology to develop products and processes to help improve lives. It’s a growing profession that offers multiple career opportunities for students interested in science and technology.

Biotechnology senior capstone projects
Biotechnology students conduct senior capstone projects that challenge them to apply technical and research skills gained through their studies.
Research apprentice program
Interested in pursuing a biotech degree in college and want to gain hands-on lab experience? Join our research apprentice program!
KU Edwards Campus research apprentices are high school juniors, high school seniors, and community college students who assist our KU senior students with their capstone research projects during the spring semester.
Research apprentices work side by side with KU students in the lab generating data, interpreting results, and presenting experiment findings.

Biotech Day
Hosted by the biotech and other health sciences programs at KU, Biotech Day consists of presentations and interactive sessions from current KU students and faculty. It introduces people to the biotechnology program and demonstrates the work of KU’s students.

High school class visits
Looking for a way to get your students excited about biotechnology and give them resources to plan for college? Schedule a classroom visit to our campus! Your visit will consist of morning activities that involve problem-solving and hands-on experience in the lab.
These campus visits are a great way to introduce high school juniors and seniors to skills they’ll need in college courses — and to get them excited about science.
