Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships
We are dedicated to guiding students through the process of securing undergraduate research opportunities and applying for nationally competitive fellowships and scholarships.
We also host programs to support students, faculty, and staff in their research endeavors, including:

STEM Forward Scholars program
The STEM Forward Scholars program supports students from historically marginalized communities and students underrepresented in STEM, reinforcing KU’s commitment to a diverse and equitable workforce in STEM fields.
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be:
- Students eligible for a Pell Grant. (No FAFSA required.)
- Admitted to a biotech, applied biological sciences or health sciences program at KUEC.

Biotechnology sciences senior capstone projects
Biotechnology students conduct senior capstone projects that challenge them to apply technical and research skills gained through their studies.

Research apprentice program
Interested in pursuing biotech degree in college and want to gain hands-on lab experience? Join our research apprentice program!
KU Edwards Campus research apprentices are high school juniors and seniors, and community college students who assist our senior students with their capstone research projects during the spring semester.
Research apprentices work side-by-side with KU students in the lab generating data, interpreting results and presenting experiment findings.

Biotech Day
Hosted by the Biotech and other health sciences programs at KU, Biotech Day consists of presentations and interactive sessions. It introduces people to the biotechnology and demonstrates the work of KU's students. Learn more.
High school class visits
Looking for a way to get your students excited about biotechnology and give them resources to plan for college? Schedule a classroom visit to our campus! Your visit will consist of morning activities that involve problem-solving and give students hands-on experience in the lab.
These campus visits are a great way to introduce high school juniors and seniors to skills they’ll need in college science courses, and get them excited about science.

Biosciences advisory board
