Biography

Dr. John Grube is a Professor of the Practice in the Criminal Justice Department. He earned his Ph.D. in Sociology from Kansas State University, with a research focus in criminology, specifically felony sentencing outcomes. Prior to arriving at KU, he was the Director of Research at the Kansas Sentencing Commission where he focused on data collection, sentencing research, and criminal justice policy in Kansas. He is also a licensed attorney, having worked at both the Kansas Appellate Defender Office and the Wyandotte County District Attorney’s Office, where he argued cases in both the Kansas Court of Appeals and Kansas Supreme Court, as well as handling numerous jury trials. Prior to law school, Dr. Grube was a police officer in Kansas City, Kansas.
