Center for Workplace Excellence - Policies & Procedures
At the Center for Workplace Excellence, we are committed to delivering a high-quality, engaging experience for every participant. To support clear communication and a smooth experience from start to finish, we have outlined the following guidelines.
At the Center for Workplace Excellence, we recognize that schedules and circumstances can change. Our goal is to be as flexible and transparent as possible while ensuring a high-quality experience for all participants. The options below are designed to support that balance:
Substitutions
If you’re unable to attend, you’re welcome to send a colleague in your place for the same or a future offering. Please notify us of the substitution at least SEVEN business days prior to the event or course. There is no fee for substitutions, unless there are material fees that cannot be changed to the new participant.
If a substitution isn’t possible, the following options are available:
- Cancellations made two weeks or more before the event/course will receive a refund, minus a $50 per person administrative fee.
- Cancellations made less than two weeks prior to the event/course will incur a $150 per person administrative fee.
- Registrants who do not attend and do not cancel will be responsible for cost of the registration.
- Participants who attend any portion of an event/course will be responsible for cost of the registration.
- No refunds are issued for participants who cancel within one week of the course start date.
Event Changes
In the rare event that the Center for Workplace Excellence must cancel an offering due to insufficient enrollment, registration fees will be fully refunded. The University of Kansas’ liability is limited to the registration fee, and it is not responsible for additional costs such as travel or lodging.
The Center for Workplace Excellence adheres to the Edwards Campus Inclement Weather Policy. Please check the Inclement Weather Policy for more information.
The Center for Workplace Excellence is committed to creating an accessible experience for all participants. If you need an accommodation, please contact Alex Terwilliger at 785-864-7029 at least two weeks prior to the start of the program, if possible, so we can best support your needs.
The University of Kansas prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, religion, sex, national origin, age, ancestry, disability, status as a veteran, sexual orientation, marital status, parental status, gender identity, gender expression, and genetic information in the university's programs and activities. Retaliation is also prohibited by university policy. The following person has been designated to handle inquiries regarding the nondiscrimination policies and is the Title IX coordinator for the university: Director of the Office of Civil Rights and Title IX, civilrights@ku.edu, Room 1082, Dole Human Development Center, 1000 Sunnyside Ave., Lawrence, KS 66045, 785-864-6414, 711 TTY.
At the Center for Workplace Excellence, we sometimes take photos or record video/audio during courses and events to help share our work and learning community. By attending, you’re okay with the possible use of your image or voice in future CWE materials like websites, course resources, and social media. If you’d rather not be included, email Alex Terwilliger, within one week of the start of a course or at least one week before an event, and include a recent photo so we know how to honor your request. If we don’t hear from you by those timeframes, we’ll assume you’re comfortable being included.
