Biography —
Dmitry Gimon serves as Director of IT programs at KU Edwards Campus and is a Professor of Practice. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas in 2007. His background combines academic career with professional software development experience. He teaches data analytical courses and related subjects. And he loves to use coding and data analysis in his everyday work and to share his passion for these subjects with students.
Dmitry began his academic career as a post-doctoral fellow at Concordia University in Montreal. He also served at Fort Hays State University contributing to the Web/App development and MIS programs there. Most recently, he was the founding program director for the MS in Information Systems and Business Analytics program and a department chair at Park University in Parkville, Missouri.
Dmitry is also passionate about teaching and exploring the intersections of various disciplines. For example, data visualization is his favorite teaching subject because it combines mathematics, communication, and visual arts. He also co-taught a course on AI ethics that integrates computer science and philosophy. His research interests include decision support systems, concession-making in negotiations, and bike- and ride- sharing transportation systems. These areas of study allow him to bring together business and societal perspectives while studying data analytics, operations research, and sociological theories and methods.
