John Hamilton

After graduating from the University of Kansas, John Hamilton served 26 ½ years with the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department, attaining the rank of Major.  He also taught Criminal Justice classes at Park University in Parkville, Missouri, and has worked with community groups to improve relationships with the police, creating stronger partnerships to enhance public safety.

Dr. Hamilton’s interests include Community Policing and Problem Solving, police organizational behavior, and dispute resolution. He enjoys the classroom, where diverse perspectives can be shared and discussed respectfully. Dr. Hamilton encourages critical thinking and the development of conflict-resolution skills.

He is the co-author of Community Justice, 3rd ed. Published by Routledge.
