Biography —
Laura Stratton is a capital defense and civil rights attorney. A graduate of the University of Chicago Law School, she has argued cases before the Kansas Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and has litigated federal civil rights cases on behalf of inmates with mental illness. As an attorney and mitigation specialist, her practice has spanned Kansas, Louisiana, Illinois, Virginia, and the federal courts. In her personal capacity, she serves as the Legislative Lead for the Kansas chapter of Moms Demand Action, where she testifies before the Kansas legislature, advocates before Governor Kelly, and leads more than 150 volunteers annually in meeting with lawmakers on gun violence prevention policy.
