Biography —
Rich Lockhart has been in law enforcement for more than 35 years and is the police chief for the Lawrence Kansas Police Department. He started with Lawrence PD in January 2022 after serving as the police chief in Warrensburg, MO for 6 years. Before going to Warrensburg, he had a 26-year police career with the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department attaining the rank of major.
Chief Lockhart has a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Kansas and a bachelor’s degree in biology from Harding University. In his off-duty time, Chief Lockhart enjoys photography and riding motorcycles.
With his years of experience in law enforcement, Chief Lockhart values sharing the lessons he’s learned with the next generation of criminal justice professionals. Leadership, community engagement, relationship building, and law enforcement history are some of his areas of interest.
