Biography

Travis is a law enforcement veteran with over thirty years of experience, including ten years as a police chief for a mid-sized city. He has previously served in patrol, investigations, narcotics, and as a crisis negotiator. Travis is also an active member of several professional associations and has received numerous awards for his community service and leadership, reflecting his dedication to both public safety and education. His focus has included partnerships with mental health resources, intelligence-led policing initiatives, and the infusion of technology in policing.

In addition to his law enforcement career, Travis has taught undergraduate criminal justice courses for over twenty years. He authored the textbook “The Investigation of Crime” in 2008.

Travis holds a bachelor’s degree in management where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He also holds a Master of Public Administration degree and is a member of the Pi Alpha Alpha Honor Society. He is a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education in Leadership and Innovation degree. His doctoral research focuses on curriculum-based police programs in schools.
